About the Faculty
The Faculty of History is one of the oldest faculties in Kursk, the one and only associated with the development of higher historical education in the region. The faculty has existed since Kursk State Pedagogical Institute (now Kursk State University) opening in 1934.
Today the faculty provides such training programs as "History", "Pedagogical training" (with two areas of specialization "History and Social Studies") and "International Relations" ("History of International Relations"). The faculty offers four master's degree programs as well: in Russian and foreign history, pedagogical training and the history of international relations.
The faculty departments have PhD programs in the following programs: 07.00.02 – National History and 07.00.03 – World History (early modern and modern history). The leading specialists of the departments of Russian History and World History are members of the dissertation committees on historical sciences.
