About us
Kursk State University is the oldest university in the Kursk Region originally established as Kursk State Pedagogical Institute in 1934 with only two faculties: the Faculty of History and the Faculty of Philology. In 2004, the institute was granted the status of a university and renamed Kursk State University.
The university’s main historic building was opened in 1907 as a girls' academic high school (gymnasium). Today the university has 17 faculties.
Kursk State University is a rapidly developing high-tech educational and research center. Moreover, the University is an international and cultural center for overseas students as it cooperates with more than 50 countries all over the world.
In 2024 Kursk State University celebrated its 90th anniversary.
